I bought this on a whim browsing recommended Amazon books, and I am glad I did. The format of this book is my personal favorite- insights/thoughts/concepts that are extrapolated on within a couple of pages or less, such as The Art of Worldy Wisdom or Aesop's Fables (the insights in this book are aimed toward the modern man) . The author also gives "real world" examples to try out to apply his concepts, like Robert Anton Wilson in Prometheus Rising. One could pick this up, flip to any page, and read something within a single described section, that they could meditate on all day.

Not Caring What Other People Think Is A Superpower Insights From a Heavyweight Boxer Ed Latimore 9781542628808 Books Reviews

Love this book. Ed is a great author and love the format that he writes in. I think it took me like two days of reading to start implementing many of his suggestions. If you don't get something out of this book, I would be floored. He has wisdom to pass on and I would highly recommend it. I bought it after hearing a podcast on Art Of Manliness and it doesn't disappoint! I have many pages dog eared and underlined to return to for short bits of wisdom.
First let me say there's nothing in here that I haven't heard or read before. Most of it is down home common sense. And that's the beauty of it. Rarely have I found all of these tips pulled together in one place. It's well written in a straightforward and concise manner that doesn't pull any punches. The chapters are short and even come with actionable advice if you want to fully ingest a particular lesion. This is on my short list of books for my son when he approaches adolescence.
I gave this book five stars.
The reason I gave this book five Stars, because Ed Latimore expound on every topic he talk about and he gives actionable advice.
For example, ed talks about being discipline and how it can change all aspects in your life. The actionable advice was to wake up one hour early everyday, whether you want to or not. It might be painful but once you master it, you will be able to master other things. He also talk about stepping out of your comfort zones, relationship with woman, and you are the company you keep. I think if anybody want to improve there life should buy this book.
I was first introduced to Ed Latimore from a podcast on the Art of Manliness. I was incredibly inspired by his life story and how he raised himself from nothing of the inner city to where he is today....author, self-help guru, professional boxer and a Physics Major. I'm only halfway through the book and have already gleaned so many helpful lessons. One of my favorite quotes is the following -“The only thing I control in this world is my mind. Everything else can and will do as it pleases”. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to get a lot better or even just a little better with the life he is living. Never stop growing and learning!
I first heard of this book via Twitter, so I took a chance and ordered a copy for my teenage son. Once it arrived and my husband and I began skimming it, we couldn’t put it down.

To summarize, this is s book of wisdom, life lessons, inspiration, and Actionable Advice. The positivity in this book really does work like a boomerang—which is how the author has described his own experiences.

The book can be started, stopped, and started again at any point because of the way it’s written. It’s sorted into categories such as work ethic, self-control, relationships, etc. Each discussion within a category begins with a short, concise idea that was originally posted as a Tweet by the author, Each idea is then expanded upon into a short, powerful essay which includes inspiring food-for-thought. Finally, the author ends each essay with “Actionable Advice” that inspires the reader to take a meaningful step of action.

The reader can pick up and start/stop the book at any point, making it useful as either an in-depth read or a quick skim.

While most of the copies I’ve purchased have been for young men, this book has just as much wisdom and meaning for older readers and women as well.
Heavyweight boxer Ed Latimore is a heavyweight in mind as well as body. I know what you're thinking This is a book written by a professional athlete. It's going to consist of nothing more than dumbed-down platitudes and nonsensical feel-good slogans that mean nothing.

Wrong.

Ed is clearly a very smart man with a keen observational grasp of human nature, what motivates us, and what gets in our way. And the thing that trips us up is usually ourselves. This is what I think sets Not Caring What Other People Think Is A Superpower apart from other self-improvement books. Its recurring themes are self-control and self-discipline, and Ed provides excellent hints for achieving these things without sounding cloying or hectoring. Or arrogant.

Yes, it's a book based on Tweets. Well-written Tweets. But these Tweets are springboards to more nuanced discussions. This book will surprise you, entertain you, and more importantly, inspire you. A worthy addition to any self-improvement library.
They say you're the average of the five people you spend the most time with. Whether it be through Ed's Twitter or this book, I think it's worth giving him some of your time. Ed's a guy with a fascinating background and someone who seems to know how to get stuff done whether it be boxing, social media, writing, or whatever else he sets his eyes on next. If you're familiar with his succinct Twitter, I'd think of this book as a long form version of his tweets. It's filled with good advice, perspective shifts, and straightforward questions that will help you reevaluate your own priorities to live a more honest life with yourself.
I bought this on a whim browsing recommended books, and I am glad I did. The format of this book is my personal favorite- insights/thoughts/concepts that are extrapolated on within a couple of pages or less, such as The Art of Worldy Wisdom or Aesop's Fables (the insights in this book are aimed toward the modern man) .
